Rachid is a young man who survives in Morroco boxing in clandestine fights in order to save enough money with which to pay a smuggler, and be able to cross the Strait of Gibraltar with his two friends.

After a recruiter sees him winning a bar fight, Tyler Verdiccio is kidnapped and thrown into an abandoned industrial complex which has been converted into the arena. Along with his lover, Jordan, and another kidnapped man, Verdiccio is hunted by mercenaries in a televised death duel which is the main event for a multi-million dollar gambling racket.

Young boxer Arlan, a trainee at the Olympic Reserve Boxing School, dreams of making it to the Olympics. However, he is forced to take on side jobs to support his mother and younger brother, who suffers from a rare illness. One day, while working at a store, he meets Alina, a piano student at the conservatory who secretly dreams of becoming a singer. Another, jealous officer, who also has a crush on her, sneaks up on the couple. Sensing this, they flee, but the woman leaves behind her fan, on which Romashov has written a declaration of love. The jealous officer gives the fan to Nicolayeff, who then challenges Romashov to a duel. During the duel, the lover deliberately fires into the air and is shot. Based on the novel by Aleksandr Ivanovich Kuprin.
